Like the original L4 the L4D allows users to set a wide range of motion from -10° extension to 135° flexion at the knee, and speed.
In addition, the L4D digital controller provides adjustable Reverse on Load (ROL) force, end of range pause time, Warm Up mode, and a treatment session Timer. The digital controllers also keep track of user hours and cycles and feature a lock to prevent patients from making programming changes. The L4D digital controller has been designed to interact with a removable Patient Memory Key which allows settings saved for a specific patient to be transferred between CPM devices. Symbols instead of written words on the device and controller facilitate use by international users. Ease of setup and operation features include patient fitting that does not require measuring or intricate adjustment. It also accommodates a wide range of patient sizes, from children to large adults. Treatment benefits include constant angular velocity to help prevent adhesions and contractures by ensuring the same amount of treatment time is spent in both flexion and extension. The L4D also minimizes anterior tibial translation and joint compression.
